Dion makes last pitch of campaign

RICHMOND, B.C.–Liberal leader Stephane Dion wrapped up his campaign on the west coast tonight with a call for Canadians to join him and vote so the "nightmare with Stephen Harper will stop."

As a final gesture of the 37-day election battle, Dion asked a crowd of more than 100 cheering, clapping and whistling supporters gathered near Vancouver to take a moment and join him in singing "O Canada."

"This is one of the most important days of our history tomorrow," Dion said after a day-long journey across Canada that began just after sun-up in Fredericton, N.B.

As he did there and in Montreal and Winnipeg, Dion depicted the election as a watershed pitting the right-wing policies of Harper and the Conservatives against the "progressive" vision of Canada espoused by the Liberals, the New Democrats and the Green Party.
